Today, Broadway attracts visitors from all over the world – all drawn to the beauty and charm of this quintessential English village. Broadway is a lively and lively town with a variety of exclusive designer shops, restaurants and hotels but is also steeped in history with its origins dating back to Roman times. A few centuries later, Broadway emerged as an important center for the arts – attracting luminaries such as JM Barrie, Vaughan Williams, Edward Elgar and American artists Edwin Austin Abbey and John Singer Sargent. These artists were drawn to the beauty of the town and its surroundings – particularly the Cotswold stone buildings – which somehow seem to get more beautiful as the years go by. Later, Broadway played an important role in the development of the Arts and Crafts movement – with William Morris a frequent visitor and Gordon Russell setting up his furniture workshop in the village. Although Gordon Russell’s workshops are gone, their legacy lives on in the town and there is now a Gordon Russell museum just off the High Street. The artistic influence is still present today and Broadway is home to the Cotswold’s top class galleries offering a wide range of works of art.

Broadway has a lot to offer its visitors – whether for a ‘day trip’ or for those interested in soaking up all that the town has to offer during a longer stay. Broadway offers accommodation to suit every budget – including award-winning guest houses, beautiful self-catering cottages, to world-renowned luxury hotels. For many, Broadway also serves as a ‘base’ for exploring other parts of the Cotswolds and the surrounding area. Stratford-On-Avon, Cheltenham Spa and Worcester are all within easy reach.
