Best Hotel In Los Angeles For Tourists

While a budget-friendly hotel has its place, sometimes staying overnight and snoozing in one of the best spots can be just as exciting as a vacation. But what exactly gives the resort the distinction of being one of the best hotels in Los Angeles?

The 18 Best Things To Do In Los Angeles In 2023

Is it close to LA’s best beaches? Or the right distance to visit LA attractions? Is it a room so decadently comfortable that you never want to leave? Or maybe it’s a high-end hotel brunch? These accommodations check those marks and more, earning a spot on our list of the best hotels in Los Angeles. It’s time to pack your bags guys.

Located above local favorite Covell Bar (and owned by the bar’s founder, Dustin Lancaster), the Covell Hotel offers nine well-appointed rooms, each carefully appointed with reading nooks and record players, clawfoot tubs and furniture, as well as charming Smegskap fridges stocked with locally sourced offers. More better? This boutique hotel is so luxurious and contemporary that all the suites have different designs so you can choose the one that suits you best. If you’re not lounging in this artsy pad, you’ll be in the heart of East Hollywood. Griffith Park and Observatory and Thai Town are nearby.

In addition to the A-listers you’ll encounter while staying here (but we won’t name names), this 5-star haunt actually lets you pretend to be one. The lush, secluded Beverly Hills property is styled like a glamorous French château and attracts a roster of celebrities, jet-setters and philanthropists with a destination spa, 60-foot rooftop pool and traditional afternoon tea program. Plus, it’s a highly desirable wedding venue for you to look forward to celebrating someone’s big day. If you decide you’d rather explore the city than the hotel (not everyone does with a spa, beautiful rooms, and award-winning cuisine), you’ll find yourself within walking distance of downtown Beverly Hills.

Welcome to paradise, people. Perched on an oceanfront bluff in luxurious Rancho Palos Verdes, the scenic resort is the epitome of Shangri-la relaxation and resort living. The 102-acre venue boasts a nine-hole golf course, a luxurious spa, four pools (including adults only) and eight restaurants where you can dine and enjoy sea views. Paddleboarding, snorkeling and horse riding are also available, so it’s perfect if you want to work up a sweat. Guests can also take advantage of the free shuttle service to Abalone Cove and other nearby shopping areas. When you manage to get your holiday through it all, we’re sure you’ll have a great night’s rest.

With 1950s-style cabanas and a refreshingly cool pool culture, the retro-fabulous Hollywood Roosevelt offers glamor minus the cheap thrills. There’s also a library-themed cocktail bar, a swank, two-lane bowling alley and a 24-hour burger bar, so despite all the temptations on Hollywood Boulevard, you never have to leave the building (but if you do, go on the hunt for your favorite celebrity star, of course). You’ll also find all the wonderful amenities Hollywood Heights has to offer.

For those who prioritize refined design and a sense of community, the sought-after Line Hotel is the perfect landing spot. With global influences (Korean, Latin and heritage from the good old USA), it is a culturally influenced place that celebrates diversity. Between the pool, the always-crowded commissary restaurant, and the quirky art pieces displayed throughout the rooms (think bird sculptures and crystals), this hotel lets its personality do the talking. It is a true dream stay. You’ll also be in Koreatown, so if you’re leaving your hotel, you can be sure there are plenty of places to eat well. And partying.

Located blocks from the Sunset Strip, this luxurious Spanish-style villa offers a lush haven for rock stars (and guests who want to feel like one) with serene gardens, fine dining and celebrity-endorsed spa treatments. In fact, even the spa’s menu is influenced by rock ‘n’ roll, offering services called ‘body tune, pipe cleaner, lifter, string and syncopation’. You can also book a spa package (expensive but worth it) to fully recharge your batteries. This could be especially welcome if you decide to go and live in West Hollywood. There is a 24-hour front desk, so the party only stops when you want it to. Glam.

Formerly a cool hangout for hot Hollywood stars and now a sister to Casa del Mar, Shutters has a cool yet decidedly sophisticated vibe. The lobby is filled with comfortable sofas, club chairs and prints by modern masters such as David Hockney. The lobby reflects the beach cottage feel of the rooms and suites. Guests who prefer gentle pampering to countless outdoor beach activities can spend a day at the spa or lounge by the pool sipping wine and taking in the ocean views. There’s no reason to leave such a beautiful place, but you’re right on the beach so you can pop in for a little while. I think there’s also the Santa Monica Pier, a full five minute walk away.

Where To Stay In Los Angeles (updated 2023)

Hotel Erwin is a meticulously appointed boutique hotel with a surfer bungalow center, steps from the ocean, and offers amenities like vegan minibars and sunset views, giving locals only a glimpse into Southern California beach culture. Basically, hanging ten has never looked so good. There are tons of great food and drink options, galleries, and shops right outside this hip joint. Convenience has never been so elegant.

This modernist four-star hotel is an absolute beauty. From the moment you enter The Garland, you’re greeted with de rigueur wood paneling, grasscloth wallpaper and a huge stone fireplace (there’s another by the pool). This design works throughout; even the massive gym is painted retro orange. Rooms have all the usual amenities and private balconies, and dogs are welcome! So if you’re traveling with your furry companion, they’ll be treated to a dog toy on arrival, as well as a bowl and mat in your room. Walking around Los Angeles with your pup is wonderful here, too—you’re a good walk from the Hollywood sign or a short drive from Universal Studios and Universal City, which has plenty of shopping and dining.
