There are over 100 BBQ restaurants in the Kansas City area! I had BBQ at Slaps BBQ and the ribs, charred ends and fried jalapeno caps were all very good. Don’t miss the onion rings either.

What To Eat In Kansas City (that Isn’t Bbq)

One of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City that we’ve been to is Rye’s at the Country Club Plaza. We went for weekend brunch and had fried chicken with mashed potatoes and a slice of banana cream pie.

If you’re looking for a steakhouse, Rye has a steller reserve wood-fired steak program. USDA Prime KC Strips, USDA Select Filet Mignon, USDA Prime Rib Eye, and Double Cut Compartment Duroc Pork Chops.

It was cold at night so we wanted a warm bowl of noodles and discovered Komatsu Ramen. Beef Tonkatsu Ramen is the perfect bowl of comfort food!

Parlor KC is Kansas City’s first food court, featuring seven restaurants in an 18,000-square-foot playground near East Crossing. I love that there are plenty of comfortable seats to eat and linger.

If you’re with friends, Covino’s is a popular supper club fine dining/special occasion concept in the Crossroads Arts District, featuring a seasonally based menu of shareable small plates and an extensive wine list. Covino was also shortlisted for a James Beard Award!

We started with the seaweed donuts with roe as an appetizer, then the burger and chips were really good. Happy hour is from 4pm to 6pm daily.

I always visit at least one ice cream shop in any city I visit, so I went to Betty Rae’s to grab a few scoops. If you’re in Kansas City in the summer, order BBQ ice cream from Joe’s KC Burnt Ends & Sauce.
