Best Place To Eat In Shreveport Louisiana

Best Place To Eat In Shreveport Louisiana – Shreveport Louisiana (and its sister city Bossier City) in northwest Louisiana is known as the Ark-La-Tex region as the state lines of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas intersect here. The food culture is unique as it is influenced by the surrounding areas and perfected by local chefs. Here are some must-see places to eat in Shreveport.

Up for Brunch Cafe is delicious food in a bright, eclectic space with large picture windows overlooking the highway. Watching the traffic is strangely satisfying, and it works with the murals created by local Shreveport artist Kalandra Jones.

Up for Brunch Cafe’s menu features a variety of unique breakfast items, such as catfish and grits, brunch wraps (like an egg roll but filled with egg, cheese, and greens), cornbread waffles, and more still.

They also have traditional Southern favorites like shrimp and grits, beignets, and chicken and waffles. If you visit on the weekend, go early. This is not a large space and if you will be sleeping, you will be waiting in line outside the door to get in.

This restaurant has been part of the Shreveport food scene for over 60 years. Earnest definitely has that special occasion vibe going on, so whether or not you’re celebrating, you’ll feel like you are.

The signature appetizer is marinated crab claws. The marinade is a secret sauce but resembles a pesto type sauce with a strong celery flavor. Portions are generous and the crab is fresh.

They also serve a variety of steaks, seafood and Italian specialties. What really makes this restaurant special is the attention they give to their flaming desserts and cocktails, prepared tableside. There are currently four flaming desserts on the menu. Ask your server or bartender for flaming cocktail recommendations.

The East Bank District in Bossier City, across the river from Shreveport, is the area’s fun new entertainment district, where you’ll find plenty of food and drink options.

Beaux Jax Crafthouse serves up hearty appetizers like nachos and Cajun deviled eggs in addition to a full menu of traditional Louisiana favorites like po’boy sandwiches, Jambalaya, blackened shrimp and grits, and more.

The Frozen Pirogue is a daquiri and oyster bar with a weekend brunch. Plus, there’s a robust menu with a variety of burgers, sandwiches, and appetizers.

Sugar Sheaux is a weekly pop-up shop in the desert. Delivery from Tuesday to Friday is available. For delivery or collection information, or to find out what they’re cooking, visit their website.

The East Bank district is one of Shreveport-Bossier’s most up and coming areas. More than just food, the precinct has a fantastic outdoor space perfect for live music and match day celebrations, with the biggest outdoor TV I’ve ever seen. If you really want to shake things up, try ax throwing at Bayou Ax Throwing Co.

East Bank also offers the Chef’s Table, an event venue primarily used by chefs to showcase their talents. With the popularity of food trucks on the rise, this space is heavily used by food truck chefs who want to host a sit-down dinner for their customers. This is where I dined when I visited the East Bank District and sampled several items on the various menus, which included a lesson in how to eat lobster.

The 30 Best Gluten Free Restaurants In Shreveport, Louisiana

I haven’t visited Fat Calf’s Creswell Avenue location, but I recommend it based on the excellent quality of a lunch their chef has prepared at the Shreveport Aquarium. We visited on a cold, drizzly day and the beef stew with flaky pastry and sauteed brussels sprouts with Korean vinegar, golden raisins and pumpkin seeds made for the perfect, warm, comforting meal.

I’ll also share that brussel sprouts aren’t my favorite food, but that I couldn’t stop eating them. The preparation was perfect and so flavorful.

Note: The Shreveport Aquarium is a great family experience, but the meal I had here was part of a special event.

Ki’ Mexico is not your run of the mill taco. Family-owned by two Mexican brothers, this trendy restaurant strives to bring something fresh and different to the table. The brothers got their start in the restaurant business with their mother expressing an interest in selling her sauces at local farmers markets, and business at their brick-and-mortar restaurant is booming. Mom’s sauces are still available to take home.

Menu items include salmon tostadas, tortugas (Mexican sandwiches), and a list of creative tacos, like the Nopal, which is tender cactus sauteed with onions and oregano in a corn tortilla topped with avocado. Their Facebook page is a tantalizing parade of various specialties, including a Mexican burger and homemade ramen noodles.

Whisk is the place to go for something sweet in Shreveport. From the perfect brownie for an afternoon treat to custom cakes that are almost too pretty to eat, this light and airy desert café is the place to satisfy your sweet tooth. Gluten-free baked goods are available.

Chef Blake Jackson doesn’t make his gluten-free baked goods with almond flour. I never suspected it was a gluten free cookie.

Chef Blake Jackson creates his dream baked goods by pairing imported chocolates with fresh fruit and locally sourced ingredients. If you stop for a cookie, I recommend grabbing a few extra ones to nibble on afterwards.

When the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau invites you on a one-day food tour of their city, you don’t ask questions. You show up hungry, eager, and ready to tackle whatever savory dish is thrown your way.

You also listen to their warnings. “Hope you brought your stretchy pants,” read an email they sent us the day before. After I arrived, I realized it was more of a mandate than a tip.

The Good Stuff: ‘breakfast Club’ Challenge

Over the years, Shreveport and Bossier City have transformed into culinary destinations. Of course, both have their fair share of Creole and Cajun dishes, but the foodie Mecca also offers a wide variety of ethnic foods, fine dining, and creative food. (I should know. I ate it all. I tried everything from poblano tacos to King Cake cheesecake. Was it off-putting? Yes. Did I turn anything down? No.)

Whether you’re in town for a day or a long, lazy weekend, here are some places to eat.

Located in the up and coming Kings Hwy area, this upbeat eatery is new to the scene. Local artist Kalandra Jones’ custom and delightful Doodle murals give it an Instagram-worthy vibe from the moment you enter. The morning we visited, the place was already hopping.
