Born and raised in Bedok, I have been surrounded by many fine foods for about 25 years. Seriously, my house was right across from Fengshan Bedok 85 Market, my school was two bus stops away from Simpang Bedok and all these Thana Mera food places. So when I moved to Poongol, I was ready to eat home cooked food everyday. Until I learned about these 27 Punggol food spots that made me think my new hood wasn’t so bad.

Food in Punggol doesn’t have to be gimmicky, there are still some places that are value for money. Huang Hong Ji Congee is one of them and their signature congee ($5) is quite special, thanks to the addition of crispy deep-fried pork intestines. They also have an economical bee hoon section, which promises a filling breakfast or lunch.

There are many seafood ji char shops in Punggol, but Mama Leong Seafood in Teping Lane is widely recognized as one of the best. The prices here are reasonable and they are especially famous for their delicious serving of chilli crab (seasonal fare).
