Between June 15 and October 15, commercial contractors who dispose of green waste in a controlled area may drop off any time between 8 am-4 pm (including normal business drop-off hours Mon-Fri between 9-10:30 am and 3 – 4 p.m.).

Yard and garden clippings, as well as fruit and vegetable peelings, can be composted at home in your yard. It can improve soil texture and provide nutrients for healthy, happy plants.

Lawn watering restrictions apply from May 1 to October 15 each year. If you want to give your plants year-round access to warm, non-chlorinated and oxygenated water, you can get a rain barrel. Each barrel holds 341 liters of water.

As a resident, you can purchase one at the Eco-Center for a special price of $100 (tax included). Please bring proof of residency.

Recycling And Sanitation

The center is partnered with various producer responsibility (EPR) programs, including Product Care, Call2Recycle, BC Used Oil, Recycle BC, Major Appliance Recycling Roundtable and others. EPR is a form of recycling in which Canadian businesses are responsible for reducing the environmental impact of their products and packaging. The center also partners with BC Children’s Hospital and Diabetes Canada for clothing donations, Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver for books and CNIB to collect cell phones for their Phone It Forward program.

Please note: Our office phone line is staffed Monday through Friday, 8 am-4:45 pm (closed weekends and public holidays). From January 2023 we will be closed on Thursdays and Sundays to reduce costs. CalRecycle doesn’t pay us enough. Sorry for the inconvenience.

This place is AMAZING! I came here for the first time and I’m so glad they open at 6:30 on a Saturday! Robert was very helpful and kind! He saw me stand up quickly and came to help me take down 6 bags of plastic bottles, and put them in the trash cans to be weighed. The process took about 10 minutes! ,
