If you’re lucky, you might spot an endangered butterfly while you’re there, or one of the goofy raccoons or opossums that call the hill their home.

The eerie ruins of Sutro’s bathroom are reminiscent of yesteryear. They were created by the former mayor of San Francisco as part of an entertainment complex, but unfortunately, shortly after the center closed in the 60s, the building mysteriously burned down. The Sutro Baths were famous for their trickling, saltwater pools. At the time, the millionaire was dedicated to providing affordable entertainment to the city’s residents. Today, the ruins are located on a rocky hill overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

There are several trails leading in and around the ruins, and one even takes you to a spectacular view of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.
