How To Order Crawfish – You may have noticed that crawfish are back in season! It’s hard not to notice that every bar and shrimp shack in town is throwing out their own crawfish boil. Today we’re going to learn how to throw a 60 pound crawfish boil in our own backyard with the help of my Cajun neighbors, Sequoia and Clayton!

How To Order Crawfish

First we need some hardware. We use a 15 gallon pot that holds our recipe for boiling brew, plus a 20 lbs. Crawfish. These big ole pots have a steamer pan that looks like this (below), which you need to keep your crawfish and shrimp boiling liquid in the pot while draining the crawfish in batches.

I arrived early and the boys started washing the crawfish. About 20 pounds at a time are transferred to a large bin and washed down with a water hose in spray mode. You cannot drown the crawfish or they will drown. Just rinse and drain as shown in the video. Repeat this until the crawfish water runs clear. They are covered with mud so don’t skip this step.

We started with 8 gallons of water and started adding it all to the pot and started boiling it.

Boil for 5 minutes, then cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Lift the cooked crawfish into the simmering basket and gently pull up. Easy to serve directly on plastic tablecloths without plates!
