Liquor Store Closest To Me Right Now

Liquor Store Closest To Me Right Now – Local liquor stores have come and gone over the years, but the mainstays of Milwaukee’s liquor retail market go back decades. Attributes like experienced staff, relationships with industry pros, events, tastings and community involvement help keep them competitive after all these years.

Ray’s Wine & Spirits (8930 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa) was originally founded in 1961 by Ray Dietz. Today, the business is owned by Orey Laev, whose uncle Rick bought the business from the Dietz family. Laevs has expanded the store into a destination with a rare selection of single-barrel spirits and wines from small American and international producers for an exclusive look. They also added the Growler Gallery, a bar and event space attached to the store.

Ray’s Growler Gallery offers wine classes and tastings for its customers. “Most tastings are themed and have something for every wine and spirit enthusiast,” says Nate Norfolk, certified sommelier and director of wine and spirits at Ray’s. Past classes and tastings have included a 100-year-old sherry tasting, tastings of Napa Valley’s exclusive Dominus Estate and Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve bourbon whiskey. Classes cover the basics of wine and simple cocktails. Ray’s also has a customer rewards program.

In 1960, Frank Greguska Sr. and his wife, Irene, opened Discount Liquor (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave. and 919 N. Barstow Ave., Waukesha) at First 45th and Forest Home. Today, if you walk into a store in Milwaukee or Waukesha, someone from the Greguska family will be there. Frank and Irene’s five children—Marie, Frank Jr., Michael, Tom and Barb—run the business today, and some of their children also work there.

“We all grew up in the business. We are the second generation and we have the third generation in the business,” says Marie. “This is our livelihood; it’s not just a job for us. We live and breathe the industry.” Discount Liquor offers 1,500 imported, craft and domestic beers, over 8,000 wines from around the world, 3,500 liquors and a variety of bar syrups, tonic waters, sodas and bitters. Special products can also be ordered. He says the selection, service and consistently low prices have been key to building a customer base throughout the community.

Discount Liquor holds several events throughout the year to celebrate its 60th anniversary; keep an eye on the site for future updates. They have also sponsored the Crafts & Drafts Spring Beer Fest for the past seven years, with all proceeds benefiting the Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance.

Since Otto Kujus opened Otto’s Wine & Spirits (multiple locations) in 1945, the business has expanded to seven locations in the greater Milwaukee area. In 2001, Otto created an employee ownership program in which employees receive shares based on the number of hours worked.

“We really pride ourselves on service and selection,” says Tim Berger, president of Otto’s. “When you properly engage your customers and treat them like family, you create relationships that will help your business live a long life. People like to come to our store because they see the same people.”

Otto’s employees tour wineries, distilleries and meet the brewers behind the products on the shelves. According to Berger, a group of employees visited the Jim Beam plant to have the distillery create and bottle a bourbon exclusively for Otto’s. They plan to host drinks nights where Otto’s will partner with distillery representatives to offer guests an evening at the hotel with a sit-down tasting.

Mike Bugalski has owned Avenue Wine & Liquor (4075 S. Howell Ave.) since 2013, when he purchased the business from his neighbor, Dennis Score, who has owned Avenue since the 1970s. Bugalski went to school with Score’s younger son and started working at Avenue in the late 1990s, says Ryan Bednarski, who has also worked at Avenue for more than 20 years.

Bednarski says they get new products all the time and specialize in hard-to-find products, especially liqueurs. They carry imported wines that are not usually seen in chain stores. According to Bednarski, Avenue gets a lot of praise for the store’s mom-and-pop feel. “When customers walk in the door, we always greet them and thank them. We will also carry the things out to your car. Mike and I have been here so long and we are very good at answering questions or recommending a bottle of wine to someone for dinner or a special occasion.”

He also writes articles on holistic health, green living, sustainability and human interest. Minors often try to buy alcohol in any store. This can be a liquor store, grocery store, gas station, convenience store, etc… They try to use a fake ID card or a fake driver’s license. They ask their friend who is 21 or older to do it. They try to find other adults, even strangers. There are many ways a minor can try to buy alcohol from a store. After the minor has successfully purchased and consumed the alcohol, what happens if the intoxicated minor injures someone? For this purpose, a minor is referred to as a person under 21 years of age. Is the minor responsible? What happens if a drunk minor drives a vehicle and causes an accident and is injured? Can the store that sold the alcohol to the minor be held liable? Can the business be ordered to pay the injured party’s medical bills and pain and suffering? Under certain circumstances, yes! California law is very strict about when and how a business can be held liable for the actions of an intoxicated minor. At the R. Sam Law Office, we have been successful in prosecuting these types of cases. You need a lawyer who knows what to look for when dealing with this type of case, as there are specific strict rules for holding a business liable. If you or someone you know has been injured by an intoxicated minor, call the Law Offices of R. Sam immediately to learn about your legal rights. The consultation is free. If you don’t get paid, we don’t get paid. Hence our motto: Nothing Recovered, Nothing Owed. Call us now for a free consultation!
