If you’re looking for a village with a reputation as the “Jewel of the Cotswolds” or “the show village of England”, then Broadway ticks all the boxes. It stands on the border between Worcestershire and Gloucestershire at the northern end of the Cotswolds, below Fish Hill on the western escarpment. Its history goes back to Saxon times, and although the earliest surviving buildings date back to the 1300s, most date from the mid-17th century onwards.

Many of the buildings were built with Cotswold stone, giving it a warm and homely feel, and the village is named after its wide, grassy main street. There is plenty of shopping to do, or you can head south-east to Broadway Tower on the Cotswold Way National Trail and get a wonderful view thanks to its high vantage point, over 300m above sea level.
Ornithologists may like a trip to Broadway Gravel Pit, while Batsford Arboretum is also a short drive away. If you visit after March, also check out Snowshill Manor and Garden, which is administered by the National Trust.
The village of Broadway in Worcestershire lies on the northern border of the Cotswolds AONB. The Cotswold Way long distance walking path passes through the village, which is 100m above sea level.

Inside, you can see an exhibition (£5 for an adult) and admire the surrounding countryside from the rooftop viewing platform.
