So it makes sense you want to live there if you can, but is it affordable to live on the Las Vegas Strip?

Is there such a thing as a budget Las Vegas Strip hotel? After checking out a range of hotels, ranging from cheap accommodations to luxury resorts, here are my tips to help you decide where to stay on the Las Vegas Strip, whatever you’re willing to spend.

But first, here are a few tips to help you choose the best hotel in Las Vegas for you.

Las Vegas is America’s favorite weekend getaway, so if you can get away from Friday and Saturday nights, you can often find a bargain. I stayed at the Paris Las Vegas on a Thursday night and the same room was double the price for the next night.

But it’s not just the days of the week that you need to put in. There is no real peak season in Las Vegas, but the city is busy around the American holidays, especially between Christmas and New Year’s and during the summer holidays. Then there are the events – if there’s a big show or conference in town then hotel prices can go up a lot, so check the events list too.

Where To Stay On The Las Vegas Strip

There are more than 30 hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, but not all Strip locations are created equal. The area is four miles long, with hotels spread along its length, so if you are staying right down one end you will have to walk a long way to get to the middle or the end.

Deuce buses regularly run along the Strip 24 hours a day and cost $8 for 24 hours. But traffic can make it slow. So if you are limited on time and want to visit a lot of places then you might be better off paying less to get a more convenient place.

Even when you choose the hotel and submit the best dates, the same hotel can have different prices depending on where you look. I found a room at the Bellagio on a weeknight in August from $180/£135 to $240/£180 on various websites.

So it’s a good idea to shop around and try a few different booking sites and the hotel’s website. If the price is similar, it is often worth booking directly with the hotel because most have a loyalty program where you can get discounts or freebies.

Many hotels in Las Vegas add on a daily surcharge that is not included in the room rate, whether you book directly or through the booking office. Resort fees at Beachfront hotels range from $25-$45 a night before taxes and are usually paid at the end of your stay.

Initially the fee was to pay for extra services – and some hotels include extras such as shuttles, local phone calls or gyms – but now it can be a scary way to increase profits. Some hotels are more up front about their money than others, but always double check. For the hotels listed here, I’ve included the resort fee in the price list so it’s clear.

Inside it is done in light and airy tropical ‘South Beach style’, with white walls decorated with green and orange flashes. I stayed in a standard Paradise Tower room, but you can also upgrade to a lakeside bungalow. All rooms come with plant-style upholstery and rattan furniture to go with the theme, along with a large soft-top TV, safe and desk.

The lagoon is a great place to relax, with waterfalls and waterfalls and surrounded by palm trees with plenty of lounges and cabanas. There is a theater, a comedy club and a live music venue. Dining options include the beach bar, Bacio Italian Restaurant, Robert Irvine’s Pub and Red Lotus Asian Kitchen. The resort fee is $37 per night.

Raise the budget a bit and you can be right in the heart of the Strip at Paris Las Vegas*. It’s in a great location an easy walk to great sights. The hotel went with the Parisian theme, with their versions of the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre. And of course there’s the Eiffel Tower – with a huge octagonal pool under one of its feet.

I stayed in a large corner room, decorated in the French style of the Versailles era, with dark wood furniture, gold and blue jewelry and a pink marble bathroom. Although the rooms are not modern, they come with coffee makers and refrigerators, and mine had seats near the window to take advantage of the best view of the Bellagio fountains.

The Eiffel Tower in Paris is home to the Château nightclub on the lower floor and a restaurant and observation deck at the top. The resort has 15 restaurants in total, including Gordon Ramsey’s steakhouse, Oriental Italian, bar and grill, Parisian crèperie, and Mon Ami Gabi bistro overlooking the Strip. The resort fee is $37 per night.

The Bellagio* may not be the fanciest hotel on the Beach, but to me it’s classic Las Vegas – where you still feel like you might run into Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Junior promoting the bar. The resort is one of the largest on the Strip with about 4000 rooms, but with a great staff to guest ratio you wouldn’t know it from the service.

The park is in the middle of the Strip, but it is set behind a lake with famous fountains so you don’t have the noise of the streets. The rooms are decorated with vibrant colors in an understated, elegant style with Italian furnishings. There are 20 places to eat around the Bellagio, one of which has a $100 million Picasso painting on its wall.

Bellagio also has a designer shopping center where you can stock up on Armani and Chanel, a spa, a theater, indoor gardens, a nightclub, a cocktail bar and a Cirque du Soleil show. There are five pools in the resort, where you can reserve a luxury cabana complete with plenty of ice towels. The resort fee is $45 per night.

My husband and I are looking to travel to Vegas and were wondering if any of the hotels/motels offer in-room kitchens. We are on a tight budget and have found that if we have meals that we can cook ourselves instead of going out or ordering in each meal it can save us quite a bit of money.

We love the Hilton Resort at Flamingo! A complete “apartment” with a kitchen area, etc. for the price of a regular room. The location is great, too, near the Flamingo Casino and the Vegas monorail station.
