San Diego Zoo Hotels

San Diego Zoo Hotels – When it comes to lodging, many people I talk to about San Diego travel plans ask for hotels near the San Diego Zoo. This makes sense because it is our main attraction and the main reason people visit. It’s a bit difficult to choose a hotel based only on proximity to the zoo.

The first thing to know is that there are no hotels within walking distance of the San Diego Zoo. Expect to walk at least 30 minutes. The good news is that it’s really easy to drive there thanks to the large and free parking lot. Alternatively, you can take Uber or even the Old Town Trolley to the Balboa Park stop.

The Downtown, North Park, and Hillcrest neighborhoods all surround Balboa Park where the San Diego Zoo is located, which means that this list of hotels near the San Diego Zoo is a bit more diverse than other lists I’ve compiled. My picks here suit different types of travelers, including those who want a hotel closest to the zoo, luxury travelers, families who need large but reasonable suites, boutique hotel lovers, and more.
