The Closest Barbecue Restaurant – While the restaurant is called Meow Barbecue, there are no cats in this restaurant. I recently spotted the popular Meow Barbecue at Bugis+, an award-winning Chinese BBQ restaurant that just opened its first overseas outpost in Singapore. For the uninitiated, Meow Barbecue was first established in 2012 by Uncle Meow (猫叔) with over 30 outlets in 10 major Chinese cities such as Chongqing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing. It has consistently ranked the top 10 BBQ restaurants in China in various polls and awards, as well as winning Dianping’s Must-Try Restaurant for four consecutive years.
The Bugis+ outlet is located opposite Victoria Street, and has a bright casual dining atmosphere with cat symbols.

The food prices at Meow Barbecue are relatively wallet-friendly and there are some Meow signature meats that I highly recommend for your first time here. For starters, the Meow Signature Chicken with Cheese Dip (S$15.80) is delicious. The chicken meat is well marinated, tender and the melted paneer dip also enhances the taste of the chicken.

My other meat favorite is the Meow Signature Spicy Beef (S$23.80), which is not as spicy as it sounds. You get the slight hint of spiciness that makes beef so delicious where grain-fed 129-day-old shredded beef is marinated with spicy chilies.
The meat offerings here are also intriguing, such as the Rose Beef Tongue (S$25.80) and the Diamond Cut Marinated Beef Ribs (S$28.80). The latter are marinated in their in-house secret sauce and cut into irregular diamond shapes so the ribs have extra surface to grill more evenly. Expect a tender and flavorful beef ribs here, which I enjoyed.
For pork, try the Iberico Pork Belly with Garlic (S$19.80) and the Iberico Pork Collar Marinated with Pineapple Sauce (S$22.80). Pork belly is extremely fatty and garlic gives extra flavor to the meat.
If you’re undecided about what to get, there’s the Meow Signature Family Platter (S$66.80) which is an assortment of meats – Meow Signature Beef Cubes with Onions, Premium Iberico Pork Belly, Marble Beef Chunks, Teriyaki Chicken Thigh and Iberico Collards in Pork Smoky Sauce.

The seats between the fare tables are relatively close together and can be a bit cramped. Also there is a strong BBQ smell in the restaurant.
Will I return again? I’ve been surprised by the quality of the meats at Meow Barbecue, which are overall quite tender and flavorful. The prices are quite wallet-friendly too, and I am sure this will be a popular dining spot in Bugis. Of all the amazing restaurants in Singapore, I think Korean BBQ is probably the most exciting with its interactive, DIY experience and there’s nothing quite like a table full of spicy meat just waiting to be grilled. The best Korean BBQ restaurants in Singapore usually use charcoal, provide grill change service, serve fresh meat, and lots of your typical Korean dishes.
From Tanjong Pagar to Chinatown, you will find many Korean BBQ restaurants in Singapore. Here’s a guide to the best Korean barbecue restaurants.

Go’s BBQ is probably my favorite Korean BBQ restaurant in Singapore for its signature wet-aged pork. At Go’s BBQ, you are served fresh meat sliced in front of you and cooked on a grill to a specific temperature by their staff. Their wet-aging method gives every meat perfect tenderness, juiciness, and extra juiciness. They also serve Australian Wagyu with 9+ Grade and American Beef Prime Grade Beef which is delicious, tender, naturally marbled and melt in your mouth beef. The beef was excellent but an authentic Korean version of Wagyu called Hanwoo would do better.
Wang Dae Bak Pocha BBQ serves Korean traditional Iron Grill BBQ in a fun and inviting atmosphere. The decor is reminiscent of the Korean street scene in the 70’s and 80’s. Highlight dishes would be their prime ribs (meat so tender it melts in your mouth), Iberico pork (pork that tastes of goodness), and kimchi pancake (the best kind of pancake, crispy and oily). With a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, you’ll definitely want to come back for more.
Super Star K is probably one of the most popular Korean BBQ restaurants in Singapore. If you are looking to dine here then come early or else their lovely Ajumma will tell you to come another day due to the long waiting list ahead.
Offers a selection of Super Star quality meats, such as their Black Pork Belly (Kurobuta), Seasoned King Size Beef Ribs and Prime Beef (Kalbisal). I like the fact that they have a variety of grills for different types of meat as it brings out different flavor profiles.

O.BBa BBQ is also one of the famous Korean BBQs in Singapore. They are so famous that they have taken over many shops along Tanjong Pagar Road. Its cozy interior is decorated with a row of booth seats that are great for conversation in a small group setting. O.BBa has a huge selection of Korean dishes which is great for variety seekers.
Don Dae Bak is a simple Korean BBQ restaurant that serves food with a mild flavor. The meat here is served fresh and cooked in front of you (depending on the crowd). I think the dish here has an overall mild flavor or seems “healthier” than others like friend chicken, you would expect it to be super greasy but on the contrary, it was not. The meat here doesn’t have a strong burst of umami flavor, so it will be good for those who prefer medium-tasting food. The restaurant is relatively small and almost always packed, so a Don de Bec reservation is essential to avoid missing out on a table.
Chang’s Korean BBQ is recognized as one of the great places to have Korean fine dining experiences, select occasions and corporate dinners. It is located in Dempsey Hill which is one of the best places in Singapore for food. You can use their shuttle bus services to reach there from different places. Chang Korean BBQ is a place you can definitely visit once to experience the fine dining Korean experience. It is definitely a perfect place to bring your partner on a date for a nice Korean food and a stroll along the beautiful Dempsey Hill. Barbecue restaurants can start relatively quickly compared to other restaurants, while barbecued foods are slow-cooked by the process in order to optimize sales. The practice of smoking is being promoted by the restaurant personnel in the premises.
In some instances, this may enable the sale of barbecued meats that begin smoking the night before the next business day.
