However, after playing tourist for a day and visiting Gardens by the Bay, I realized that there are many good eateries in the area. While some are not the cheapest, they are definitely worth a visit on special occasions. Here are six Marina Bay Sands food places to check out the next time you are in the area!

A long time ago when I was in high school, Marina Bay was just a big stretch of land, with open-air steamboat restaurants. I remember having to take a bus to get there! And while these steamboat joints have closed down, you can still get an affordable steamboat buffet fix at Marina Bay BBQ Steamboat Buffet ($27 for Mon-Thur, $29 for Fri-Sun, $30 for PH and eve of PH). They make their traditional Teochew kueh from scratch, and usually sell out by 2pm or earlier, so you should visit as early as you can. Choose to get your kueh steamed or fried (top up $0.10); well-known favorites are the Png Kueh ($1.10), Soon Kueh ($0.90), and Chives Kueh ($0.90). To help cope with rising inflation, a minimum order of two pieces is required when you dine in, while the requirement is increased to five pieces, if you want to take this handmade kueh in a box.
