The restaurant is upscale and the focus is on the food. The beauty of Bahia is trying different food and sharing it with others. The food and the conversation about the food becomes the focal point of the dining experience. Although the menu will change, some of the most popular items include Ratatouille, Croquettes, Clams and the Al Pastor served on a corn shell. And leave some room at the end for the Bunelos, the warm Spanish pastries with powdered sugar and cinnamon caramel. It’s a great way to finish the meal.

Barrio brings Mexican cuisine to downtown. This is a regional restaurant chain with 15 locations in Michigan and Ohio. Located on Front Street across from J&S Hamburger, Barrio has a young and vibrant theme. You can choose from daily specials or create your own tacos and choose from a long list of proteins and toppings. Just a warning that you won’t find it here, if you like highly processed guacamole that you can ingest through a cigarette. The guac has large chunks of avocados that make it tougher to eat but delicious. There’s a nice selection of diverse flavors on the menu, and many have a real spicy kick to them. The Tasting Room is located next to the Boardman River on Union Street. As of this writing the Tasting Room is awaiting its state liquor license, but that doesn’t stop the kitchen from creating a wide range of salads, soups and sandwiches. Their signature menu item is perhaps their wood oven baked pizza. Build your own pizza or go with recommended toppings such as Spinach Artichoke Pie, Margherita, Meatball Pie, or the Breakfast Pizza. The outdoor fireplace creates a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Artisan Waterfront Restaurant & Tavern was created for the recent major renovation of the Delamar Hotel. The food is Great Lakes inspired with an emphasis on farm fresh regional farms and sources whenever possible. Wagyu beef burgers and Wagyu hangar steak will satisfy meat eaters, while the Grilled Kale “Pinsa” may appeal to the vegetarians in the family. All food is served with one of the best views of West Grand Traverse Bay.

Trattoria Stella: When I was told not to miss this restaurant at two wineries, I just had to go for dinner. This is an Italian restaurant where I enjoyed the traditional atmosphere and the large menu. 1200 W. 11th St. It is located at 1200 W. 11th St., a short distance from downtown, at The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. This former Traverse City State Hospital has been completely transformed into a large complex of residential buildings, restaurants. shops and boutiques, as well as microbrewery Earthen Ales, and urban winery Left Foot Charley.
